The Obama Administration is testing the waters by leaking the possibility that it may abandon a public option component to its health care reform plan. In other words, it will once again cave to the lobbies, special interests, and the right-wing pro-ignorance American Taliban.
On everything from torture, Guantanamo, human rights, the use of military force, transparency, and now health care, Obama is nothing more than pretty words reinforcing the good old status quo. It is pathetic. The worst of all, though, is that so many ridiculously stupid people in the country believe that Obama is a radical. He is nothing but. He has proven to be part of the machine, and his inability to stick to something so basic, such a no-brainer, so elementary in every other advanced country in the world highlights just how dangerously our country is sliding into the abyss of thirdworlddom.
Here are a couple of decent articles on today on health care and Obama chickening out:
- “More Crisis Needed” by Fareed Zakaria
- “In Defense of Britain’s Health System” by Ara Darzi and Tom Kibasi
- “British Like Their Health Care, Don’t Care What You Think” by Alex Koppelman
- “The Swiss Menace” by Paul Krugman
- “The Public Option’s Last Stand” by Robert Reich
Excellent post.

???
Chairman Maobama is a certified moron.
a) “He” doesn’t have a plan.
b) “He” doesn’t even know what is contained in the House plan.
c) He is a radical; Government Motors, formerly known as General Motors, bank takeovers, (bet you didn’t bother to look up the fact that AIG, who received 400bn in TARP funds from Maobama, with no oversight/transparency, also insures the Congressional Pensions … OH NOES!!!), selling off any hope for American employment to every/any third world nation.
Again with the media bullshit …. come on cugino, you’re too smart for this apathy.
Have you read, for yourself, not anyone else telling you, H.R. 3200?
Do you realise that it has nothing to do with “Healthcare” or “Reform”?
Do you know how many pages of that “bill” are for nothing more than expansion of IRS powers?
HELLf*nOOOOO!!!
Oh, by the way, your touting of France’s socialised healthcare is completely bogus:
1.) It is nearing insolvency.
2.) It covers less than 60% of procedures, medicines and care.
3.) Even though there is a “private option” available in France, it only covers 15 – 20% over the forced government option; which leaves the citizens with medical bills to pay ………….. ?????
The facts are simple:
1) If this bill goes through, private insurance will fail; period.
2) Healthcare will be rationed.
3) The American government will become insolvent in one decade, without the possibility of recovery; i.e. unpayable debt+aggressively devaluated dollar+hyperinflation.
4) Hard to tell the exact numbers, because everyone is painfully full of shit, but somewhere in the neighborhood of 17 – 28 million Americans will still not be covered.
5) There are death panels included in the House bill ~ OH NOES!!! Hrmmmm, the Senate version just dropped their death panel sections this week; even though, “there was no language contained within the bill about death panels […]” … ???? ???? ????
6) Maobama is anti-American, anti-Semite, radical socialist tyrant on par with any of the world’s worst; he’s continually being fed by the whore, Skanky Pelosi; the lying Queen Barney “I love the hot dog” Frank, and everyone’s favorite felon: Rahm Emanuel ~ Wrongapedia says “During his time on the board, Freddie Mac was plagued with scandals involving campaign contributions and accounting irregularities.[32][33] The Obama Administration rejected a request under the Freedom of Information Act to review Freddie Mac board minutes and correspondence during Emanuel’s time as a director.[32]
The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) later accused the board of having “failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention.” Emanuel resigned from the board in 2001 when he ran for Congress.”
Although, this information has been widely verified by numerous sources, so Wrongapedia isn’t totally off track.
America is becoming a third world nation; funny thing is though, it is being caused more by socialist cretins from the left in this country who hate everything, including America, but their own petty egos, pathetic victimhood mentalities and the good ole standard of no standard; equivocation.
Hell, who needs personal ethics when you can just wait for the nanny government to do it all?
My Grandfather would vomit at the mention of this debauchery; either that, or laugh until he fell down, from disbelief. Hail the victorious dead; spared from watching the Republic burn.
Hmmm. Anti-American? Obama has done nothing that all of the other American presidents have always done. There is nothing new about Obama. He is just a continuation of Bush, et al.
My question is what is “American”? What does the country stand for? What are its values? A beacon of light for what? We are a pro-corporate welfare, militaristic, vindictive, uncaring, ungenerous debtor nation where only the rich get richer. None of that was started by Obama. He is just playing along.
All this is is a replay of the 1994 debacle when the democrats had control of everything and went nuts.
Libs deserve all the losses the Bamtard is handing to them.
Like the 1994 Debacle, the Democrats’ loss in Congress turned out to be good for Clinton. The same could happen for Obama, as I predicted at the outset of his victory.
I was awaiting this post coming through ever since I saw Obama addressing the military in Afghanistan: you are here for a reason… this was the war we did not start…
I don’t have the exact quotes, but there’s a reason to everything when you look hard ;).
Actually, the tiny Moldova is pretty much in the same state of mind. Remember, the riots in April? With the Parliament burned down? Well, we got another round of elections (the Parliament was dissolved for being unable to elect the communist President – that’s a win). So we may be about to start our own round of disenchantment. Hopefully not 🙂
Hmmm. Anti-American? Obama has done nothing that all of the other American presidents have always done. There is nothing new about Obama. He is just a continuation of Bush, et al.
Bush = absentee landlord + Village Idiot. The man knew nothing of the country, but I blame his parents for that error.
Maobama is an altogether different “thing”. You’re trying to compare chimps and zebras, and well, other than both being “animal” there isn’t much let to compare.
My question is what is “American”? What does the country stand for? What are its values? A beacon of light for what? We are a pro-corporate welfare, militaristic, vindictive, uncaring, ungenerous debtor nation where only the rich get richer. None of that was started by Obama. He is just playing along.
lollercopters!!! all the way down.
Seriously, you think in those circles? LMMFAOROTFL, come on, that’s not even on board partially.
First off, no other country has given more for other nations; you name it, charities, development, defense money, technologies, technology money, religious monies, education monies. You seriously need to read something besides fictions because you aren’t even close here; it is a well established fact.
Second, if this country is so geared towards “possibility”, “opportunity”, “availability”, etc. it is ridiculous. The entitlement mentality is so outrageously overblown in America, just because it is all always there for taking.
This whole sad sack, cop out commentary about “America the unfair” is not only non-factual, it’s just pathetic bordering on prepubescent bullshit.
The fact that SO MANY never put forth the effort, especially those minority demographics who just want it all handed over to them; is their problem. Screw them hard and long; you don’t want to work for it, someone else will ~ ever notice how many Asians come to America and do amazingly well … ? OH NOES!!! Could it be because they have both work ethic and family ethic, (as well as a good, solid dose of ethnocentrism for helping each other up)????
Wealthiest country on the planet: America.
Best healthcare: America.
Best SOL: America.
As for the “who started it comment”, give me a f*n break:
Bush’s deficit: 629 billion over eight years. He followed CLINTON’s lead with a large debit, (Clinton’s debit was 4.7tn, and Bushie added another 7tn with help from the useless war), so thank WeeWillieBillie for the Chinese involvement.
Maobama’s deficit: 2.2 trillion in eight months.
Maths, it’s just that simple.
Frankly I’m surprised that the fascists that read your blog aren’t more pro-Obama… he is doing exactly what Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan, etc. did- support Corporate and Special Interests often to harm of nation and its people.
I still do not understand the health care debate. First what Obama is suggesting (now) is that the Congress develop a plan and he will rubberstamp it. Second, he has never offered universal or comprehensive health care. Third it is not a competition… even if other countries have inferior health care systems to the US (which isn’t the case) the health care system in the US is w/out a doubt broken.
I have been to doctors in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Baltimore. Not only did I have to wait a minimum of 3hrs at each place (despite an appointment). In all four places I had flu-like symptoms and wanted anti-biotics. In Baltimore they took my temperature determined I had a fever, but wouldn’t prescribe anything until I got my blood work done; in Queens the doctor immediately asked me to comeback the next day for an HIV test w/out taking my temperature or even asking if I was sexually active; and in Brooklyn the doctor told me that she would not take my temperature unless I gave a blood and urine sample. When I got to the doctors in the burbs of NY I don’t see a Doctor, what they do is have a Doctor front the organization and then use assistants for everything else. In Manhattan doctors will actually treat you (they will take your temperature and give you drugs w/out forcing you to do your blood work or urine sample), but they try to refer to specialists for everything.
And when I travel, I always try to check out the Courts and the Hospitals. And I have been to hospitals in Cuba (w/ C-Nap) and we were both impressed by the level of care, the lack of lines/wait and although the buildings themselves aren’t necessary first rate the care seemed to be so… although apparently medical supplies is an issue, particularly medicine due to the embargo.
Anyway, time for bed, but I could go on and on about this nonsense.
I am glad that the media is starting to slowly challenge Obama for realer issues, not for being a fake-socialists/lefty… which so far he has proven to be neither.
ReWrite,
I would much rather be treated in the U.S. than Cuba, but that is beside the point. What is interesting is that a present we do not have a free market health care system. That is a flat out lie. Even now to get something passed, the insurance and drug companies are getting all sorts of breaks, exemptions, etc (which essentially = subsidies/handouts) to protect them against competition. It is a joke.
A worse joke is how the press covers the debate. They poll people on how they feel about the Town Hall fiascos and then conclude that people are against reform. Most polls on reform indicate the opposite: people are largely in favor of reform, they are just not satisfied with how it is being handled.
Cuz,
I do not see how any of this has to do with hand-outs and people free-loading. We all went to public school, and no one ever excused us of being free-loaders. The free loaders are actually the people at the top who through tax breaks, government subsidies and bailouts actually pay much less than the middle class. The numbers are pretty damning. Over a generation the top 6 percent as gotten richer while the entire rest of society has either totally stagnated or stayed the same.
Regarding the US’s international generosity, while I love my country, I think you have fallen for all of that Red White and Blue propaganda. Per capita, we are amongst the least generous aid donors of the developed world, and for over 100 years we have been the most militaristic. Our “aid” has always been squarely in our economic interest, and frankly we support more dictatorships around the world than democracies. It’s a very hard case to make that we have done more good than bad. Notice we never ever discuss the greatest wartime, nuclear civilian massacre in history.
Eric,
Not even close.
You need to look at the numbers: we pay for the defense of 43 countries ~ more than they ever do, have or will. That’s more than charity, and hell yeah we should get some recompse for that output.
I can’t believe you are trying to pull the WWII garbage; that was a no choice situation ~ everyone agrees on that issue; not to mention it is a complete non sequitur and a strawman.
I gave you the tax breakdown in PDF, you didn’t read it. Your numbers don’t mix with what’s in the charts.
So the upper 6% made it by sliding the scale in their favor; how about the lower 20% who pay NOTHING? Get Medicaid, welfare, SSI; how about all the so called “disabled” in this country? I know more that aren’t disabled and could work than actually have a medical condition keeping them from working.
The part you really aren’t getting ~ if it isn’t us, then it will be someone else; that much I guarantee.
Who do you prefer as your taskmaster, China or Russia? Your position is untenable; as I’ve said before, “genetic imperative”.
Once all the “feelings” and “emotions” bullshit gets washed aside by the actuality ~ it all comes down to biochemistry; end game.
LMMFAO … Rewrite, can you say “misdirected bullshit”?
I have been to doctors in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Baltimore. Not only did I have to wait a minimum of 3hrs at each place (despite an appointment). In all four places I had flu-like symptoms and wanted anti-biotics.
1) Welfare f*s draining the system with governments intervention causes these scenarios.
2) NEWS FLASH: “flu” means anti-biotics do absolutely NOTHING; antibiotics are only good for bacterial infections.
3) “Healthcare” isn’t broken, it’s the scumbag lawyers and THEIR lobbyists, making certain that the Tort laws stay in favor of every non-working puke who wants a free windfall from the courts.
4) It’s also the lawyers for big insurance that are the rest of the problem.
You want to get your healthcare from Cuba, go right ahead; a third world island nation with virtually zero technology; I’ll come to the funeral and put a Cuban flag on your box … LMMFAOROTFL.
So the only thing that we offer the world is our military? I agree that our military plays a vital role in protecting trade routes and oil supply, but that is not necessarily humanitarian. I would love for the Europeans to step up and assume their share of the military burden, but even there the US has a strategic interest in not allowing that to happen. As we lose political and moral influence around the world, we can still cling to our military might — though arguably after Iraq and Afghanistan our superior technology is less threatening as it is taking us longer to defeat cave dwellers than it did to defeat the Nazis.
As you may recall, US intervention in WWII was not universally popular stateside, and was seen by many on the right as a left-wing conspiracy. Two of my great uncles fought in the war, but were very much against it. Needless to say, we cannot keep defending our actions today based on saving Europe in the 1940s. As a matter of fact, it was to our great economic benefit that Europe was destroyed and we were left unscathed.
If you did a poll around the world, my guess is that 90% of the world would not see the US as a force for good, especially not our military. And although I am saying that now, I spend a large amount of time abroad defending the US of A from its image as a hypocritical war-mongers. I think that our greatest moral example to the world is how we have allowed for immigrants to arrive and suceed.
Regarding health care, believe it or not, the only thing that I would export from the US is our lawyers and punitive damages. It is what protects us as consumers from medical malpractice. Here in Europe if someone screws up, no one is ever to blame and damages are a joke. This desire for tort reform smacks in the face of that supposed “American Way”. Tort Reform is nothing more than strict government regulation of the free market, state rights, and the will of the people and our jury system. Remember that as slimy as scumbag lawyers may be, those lawyers do not win their cases without first convincing juries and judges.
But I think we do agree that there is a massive problem of how lobbies and special interests groups for all parties, be them the Trial Lawyers, Insurance Companies, NRA, school teachers, or Oil Companies, deny us our voice. I could agree or not agree with what Obama finally proposes for health care reform, but what I think is ultimately unforgivable and pathetic is his caving to the Insurance and Drug companies. We are slaves.
The only reason we haven’t defeated the “cave dwellers” is because of the socialist “humanitarian” ninnies in this country, who will not allow us to our best military technologies ~ neutron bombs are ultimately effective against organic matter.
Of course it wasn’t popular here, foregone conclusion; collapsed market, 15-20% unemployment, hyperinflation ~ citizens aren’t smart enough to understand economic dynamics 95% of the time. We were running supplies consistently through the north Atlantic, basically without citizen awareness … and we knew that Pearl Harbor was coming.
We needed the war, tough shit for those who don’t recognise the facts of the matter; life ain’t easy, and it was formulated on fairness.
On the humanitarian issue … who cares. I am certain that you don’t see it, but step back and look at your own argument: “be humanitarian, give all for the world’s useless masses ~ but don’t you expect to have a stake in humanity, you have no right to expect reciprocity”. Cognitive dissonance exponentiated. You ask for the U.S. to be isolationists as mandated by foreign nations, but then you want us to give away our wealth and future so they can have, without putting forth the effort to earn. You don’t think that is massively convoluted/distorted?
Morality? Morality is subjective, an individually discriminatory process against others and for the self; judgement, bias, prejudice, ethnic, national and cultural centrism ~ all things I thought you were against? You can’t export morality, the foundation doesn’t exist outside the individual, the family, the community, the culture ~ non-translatable, non-transferable.
If you did a poll around the world, my guess is that 90% of the world would not see the US as a force for good, especially not our military.
Ah yes, the grousing of the inglorious and non-combatant. How do you think “90% of the world” would react is they were the Super Power with the most technologically advanced military? I give you the answer; we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Vae victus, hail the honored dead.
If you have the power, war will be your primary export; wille zur macht from the genetic imperative cannot be denied.
This desire for tort reform smacks in the face of that supposed “American Way”.
The Social Contract, which underpins the all of the “American Way” says otherwise. Tort Reform needs to be about stopping people from spilling coffee in their lap and suing MacDonald’s for it, or stopping some moronic female who turns on the cruise control in her Winnebago and thinks she doesn’t have to steer the vehicle any longer, from suing the manufacturer, or having to put warning labels on everything from Preparation H to Aluminum ladders because the genetically unfit are allowed to continue existing and procreating.
The Founding Fathers, not being deities, could not foresee the days of America, where Jerry Springer and Maury Povich had more to do with “educating” the masses than a library. It is no longer a “jury of your peers”, unless you are a drooling mongoloid. It’s a “jury of willful morons called”. A judge is just a lawyer who managed to lie more than his competition; so he/she gets a title of recognition for their depraved indifference and utter lack of ethics.
We are slaves.
Since Nimrod created the first civilisation in Babylon, we have been naught else. Even then, the automaton cannot outwit its own biochemistry.
