I know it seems early, but officially Christmas time is here. That means I can start annoying the hell out of everyone! Yet for some reason, this morning I opted for John Coltrane over my Christmas favorites. I guess I still don’t quite have the full Christmas feeling.
I think James is right, in a sense, that our consumption-centric culture has bastardized the holidays. Nevertheless, I still believe that it is possible to enjoy the season without having to give in to corporate consumerism. As a matter of fact, I think that the A Charlie Brown Christmas special is a good example of the balance between the two.
Plus, it has that the great soundtrack by the Vince Guaraldi Trio.
